It happened over dinner at a posh pub: candles, 16th century beams etc. Suddenly, some of the diners’ companions got upset. More joined in. Mayhem! People intervened and all was quiet. I realized that many diners had their dogs sitting under their tables. Dogs are welcome nearly everywhere now.

My niece, who is vegan, worried whether we would find appropriate food on the walk. No problem; all of the pubs we stopped at had vegan options. I’ve stayed at dozens of Airbnbs since starting.
