John Merill

In 1978 John Merrill was the first to walk around Britain’s entire mainland coast. See his book ‘Turn Right at Land’s End’ 

 

Vera Andrews

In 1984 Vera Andrews was the first woman to walk around the British coast. She wrote it up as “I've Seen Granny Vera: Story of the Record-breaking Longest Walk by a Woman”

 

Helen Krasner

5,000 Midges, Maps walk in 1987 was recorded in: Helen Krasner’s 'Midges, Maps and Muesli: Account of a 5, 000 Mile Walk Round the Coast of Britain (1998).

 

Spud Talbot-Ponsonby

In the early 1990s Spud walked round Britain with her dog Tess, to raise money for the charity Shelter. Her book, ‘Two Feet, Four Paws: Walking the Coastline of Britain’ (2009) has five stars on Amazon.

Richard and Shally Hunt

Richard and Shally Hunt documented their 10 month, 4,300 mile walk round Britain in ‘The Sea on Our Left’ (1999).

 

Peter Hill

In 2014 Peter Hill walked 5,000 miles round Britain’s coast in 42 weeks. His book: ‘I May be Gone for Some Time: One Man’s Story of this 5,000 mile trek round the British Coast’ (2016) records the adventures along the way.
